4. Ultimate May Parker

Everything that May Parker has done for Peter Parker is well documented. She had to take in a young boy after his parents died and deal with his mysterious past before and after she found out his secret (even though she doesn’t know anymore. Thanks, Mephisto). The May Parker in universe 616 is a bit frail in stature and sometimes can’t really handle things. Ultimate May Parker is everything that her counterpart is and then some.

The story remains the same about Peter’s parents and her husband (Ben Parker) dying. While those facts may be true, there are some glaring differences. First off, May Parker was a hippie who was once arrested for protesting in the 1970s. This shows that she will not just sit back and let things happen. Also, when her husband died, May didn’t sulk. She cut her hair and immediately got a job. She didn’t sit back and complain. May found a way to make things happen. What she did after she came to terms after Peter told her who he was is even better.

May didn’t initially take being lied to with grace, but she eventually became Peter Parker and Spider-Man’s biggest supporter. She even took in his friends (Human Torch and Ice Man) when they needed a place and once shot Electro even though Peter told her to leave. After Peter died and Miles Morales took over the mantle, she supported him by embracing this new Spider-Man trying to do the right thing.
