1. Barry (and Iris) saves Central City from the nuclear bomb

Was there ever any doubt? While season 4 of The Flash had been rather hit-and-miss with some episodes, “Enter Flashtime” was one of the greatest installments that the series has ever produced. And this was clearer than ever in the crisis point— which saw a winded, sweaty and tired Barry lose all hope of ever saving everyone from the nuclear bomb.

But when he brought Iris into “Flashtime” to update her, everything changed. The two shared a touching moment that had us all tearing up. But their conversation ended inspiring Iris, as she helped Barry solve the problem. In this moment, Iris West-Allen proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is, and always will be, Barry’s lightning rod.

Inspired, Barry ran into the Speed Force to retrieve that solution (the cork sphere) and literally unleashed hell on earth — in the form of lightning. And in one of the show’s most beautiful slow-mo sequences, Barry ran like there was no tomorrow, past everyone who had just begun to react to the nuclear explosion. With Blake Neely’s triumphant score bellowing in the background, Barry threw the cork sphere at the bomb, allowing the lightning to chase it — ultimately saving the entire city.

While the format of network TV shows can sometimes limit them, this episode was so grand that it reminded viewers why The Flash was so special in the first place. As Barry ran in slo-mo, we were all on the edges of our seats, marveling at the effects while rooting for him to succeed. Barry wasn’t the only one exhausted after all that, we were too.

With compelling performances, triumphant music and stunning special effects, the entire episode was a masterpiece. And this scene is a perfect example of that. This was easily the best moment of season 4.
