2. Erik Killmonger

The only difference between Erik Killmonger and Loki is what happened after their fathers were killed. Loki was taken and raised as a god, but was never really treated fairly. Erik was abandoned by his people after they killed his father. Left alone as a child with a chip on his shoulder, Killmonger became one of the most dangerous men on the planet and this is without powers. Killmonger graduated from M.I.T., joined the military, and learned how to fight and take down governments. He used all of these skills to take the throne away from T’Challa in ritual combat.

Erik Killmonger may be new to the MCU, but he has stamped himself as one of the best villains we’ve seen in a Marvel Comics movie long time. He represented what a lot of people think. #KillmongerWasRight is still trending on Twitter.

What Killmonger did was come from absolutely nothing and became a king (albeit a short time). Killmonger’s methods may have been extreme to some, but what he was trying to do was admirable. Trying to make the world an even playing field is a noble cause. When he said,

"“Nah, just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships. Because they knew death was better than bondage.”"

It was a moment on the level of Joker’s, “Why so serious.” A line that resonated with people who may know what it’s like to have to choose between standing up for yourself and staying quiet.
