Jeff Bridges as Highfather

Izaya the Highfather is the ruler of New Genesis and who would be the perfect actor to play the role in Ava Duvernay’s New Gods movie? Jeff Bridges, that’s who. Bridges has already dwelled in the world of superhero films when he starred as Obadiah Stane in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man. Many forget he was the MCU’s first villain, and a pretty good one at that. Looking back, though, it would’ve been great to see a little more of Bridges in the MCU. Hence, one of Marvel Studios’ biggest mistakes was killing Obadiah Stane so early in the MCU’s history. This is why Bridges would be a fascinating Highfather.

It’s evident that Bridges would like to return to the superhero landscape, as he was surprised when Obadiah was deemed dead in the Iron Man script. This is what he told Cinemablend:

"In the original script they were supposed to open my suit after, and I was gone! But then, no. I read the scene we were shooting, and they said, ‘No, you’re dead.’ And I said, ‘Oh…’ Then they said, ‘Well, it’s a comic! Maybe you’ll come back!’ I don’t know."

Add to that his past roles in science fiction films like Tron and Kingsman: The Golden Circle and I’d say we got the perfect actor for the job. Needless to say, he even looks like a god.
