13. Arthur the Moth

The always brash and comedic ‘Big Blue Beacon of Justice’ was a 1988 comic book hero known simply as the Tick.  The popularity of the comic would earn him a cartoon in 1994 and a live action TV show in 2001. Arthur, his sidekick is a former accountant that dawns a white moth suit. He is bit cowardly and because of his suite which is equipped with long ears, he’s often compared to a bunny. However, his suit allows him to fly and fight crime alongside his mentor, the Tick as they defend The City.

12. Alpha

Andrew McGuire got his name from the two actors who played Spider-Man on the big screen: Andrew Garfield and Toby McGuire. Andrew was created during Spider-Man 50th Anniversary of the Amazing Spider-Man comic issue 692. He became Alpha while on a class trip visiting Horizons Lab where he watched Peter Parker and two other scientists perform an experiment.

There was a misfire that expelled power jolts of energy throughout the lab, Andrew, in an attempt to save a classmate was struck by one of the bolts. Instead of being injured, he recovered and as a result became the wielder of cosmic energy. Out of guilt and feeling the need to help Andrew with his powers, Peter Parker revealed himself to be Spider-Man and asked Andrew to become his sidekick.

11. Ebony White

The Spirit is a hero who was resurrected from the dead whose real name is Will Eisner. Ebony’s early depiction in the 1940s was met with controversy since the character was depicted with distinguishably large lips and spoke with a heavy accent. Nevertheless, Ebony was a taxi driver and skilled pilot who lived in the cemetery with the Spirit. Like all sidekicks, Ebony would fight crime alongside the Spirit until he was written out in 1946. When DC Comics got a hold of Ebony, his character was revamped into a runaway who was intellectually gifted that acted as the Spirit’s getaway driver. There hasn’t been an on-screen depiction of Ebony yet, but maybe someday there will be.
