Marvel Cinematic Universe: 20 best actors, ranked
By Mark Lynch
10. Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (Daredevil)
Charlie Cox is one of those actors who did whatever he could to make certain he portrayed his character properly. To help with his role, for a short time wore lenses that completely blinded him. This helped him get the feel of what it was like to be blind. He also lost a role in a movie because he was so used to not making eye contact as the blind lawyer Matt Murdock. Charlie Cox was that dedicated to his role and it showed as he made Netflix’s Daredevil and made it a must-see show.
The Daredevil franchise had to come back from Ben Affleck’s performance as the titular character. A performance that many people thought was atrocious (an audience score of Rotten Tomatoes 35 percent). What Cox did was give the casual fans a realistic Daredevil show and fans of the character in the comic a Daredevil they could be proud of. On top of that, he played the role of Matt Murdock flawlessly. The excuses about the bruises were well executed, the lack of eye contact that was mentioned earlier was masterful, and he was a convincing sympathetic lawyer.
Cox is one of the crown jewels of the MCU and should be remembered for making a gritty Marvel Comics show and portraying the role properly.
