4. Jack O’Connell

Jack O’Connell went from Skins star to a respectable young Hollywood up and comer. O’Connell at first glance has all the physical attributes to play Wolverine, especially his alleged 5’8 frame. But like with any actor, the most important thing is his acting, and O’Connell can do that as well as any actor on the list. In 300: Rise of an Empire as Calisto he showed that he can pull off the look of a warrior something that Wolverine has been and still is. O’Connell can hold down a movie as the star.

In fact, the 27-year-old was the star of the 2013 critically praised drama, Starred Up which received 3.4/4 from Roger Ebert and 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. In the film he plays a tempered teen who was switched from a detention facility for kids to and adult prison where he meets his equally vicious father. The performance earned him Indy accolades and further proves how he’s primed to take one a much larger role.

Fans of Wolverine know just how important it is for an actor to capture the emotional damaged qualities that exist in his character. O’Connell can do that, and has done that throughout his young career. Most recently in 2016’s Money Monster, he did just that as a desperate man who took a on screen Wall Street aficionado hostage after losing everything thanks to one of his tips.  The emotion he displayed was fantastic and in some ways he was heroic thus proving why he’d make an excellent Wolverine. Whether it’s the current cast of X-Men or a new cast, O’Connell is an ideal fit for the role of Wolverine.
