3. Katheryn Winnick

There’s arguably no actress more fan cast in the role of Black Canary than Katheryn Winnick. The fan casting frenzy started after her portrayal of Lagatha on History’s Vikings. While Lagatha doesn’t ooze the qualities that come with Dinah as the District Attorney, she does possess some pretty palpable qualities. The most notable is the fierceness of her character who is politically savvy, strong, and can kick some serious ass.

In real life. Winnick is a martial arts expert something that would undoubtedly prove to be useful on screen. Her character on Vikings is tough, tenacious, and embodies woman empowerment in world where men rule. Lagatha isn’t an ordinary queen, she travels during war and when she doesn’t she’s held down the fort with her skills as a shield maiden. But she’s not limited by any means, she was flirty, bubble, funny and sexy in Love and Other Drugs where she wasn’t overshadowed by the otherworldly talent of Jake Gyllenhaal. While The Dark Tower flopped, Winnick was a bright spot as she held her own in a movie that co-starred Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.

2. Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt is one those actresses who fans have been clamoring for to star as one of their favorite comic book heroes — for good reason. Blunt has proven to be one of the more versatile actresses in all of Hollywood. Her resume is lengthy with roles in movies from The Devils Wears Prada to Looper to her upcoming role in Jungle Cruise and everything else in between. The in between is what guides fans in their support of wanting Blunt to portray a comic book hero.

In fact, Blunt was thought to have the role of Black Widow under wraps before Scarlett Johansson ultimately dawned the spandex as the Russian assassin. Since then, the Edge of Tomorrow actresses star has continued to rise over the years starring in films like Sicario, Into the Woods, and A Quiet Place.

As one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, Blunt will bring a sense of fanfare unlike any other actress on the list and her talents are second to no one. Since Marvel was unable to land the award-winning actress maybe the timing is right for DC.  And there’s not a role better suited for her than Black Canary — except for maybe Catwoman.

1. Blake Lively

Blake Lively was able to shed the Serena van der Woodsen character and now she’s become a legit movie star on the rise. The 30-year old actress went from TV star to movie star and did so with a small but great performance in The Town. She took another trip down the wild side to shed that Gossip Girl image in Savages where she was featured in a starring role. In Age of Adeline, she was able to shine brightly; she plays an ageless marvel forced to confront her guarded identity in a tale about love.

However, it wouldn’t be until The Shallows where she earned praise for her portrayal as a woman left to fend off a great white shark. The tenacity and perseverance she displayed as Nancy lends itself to Black Canary. Lively has been attached to Reed Morano’s The Rhythm Section, revenge movie based on a novel of the same name. In the movie, Lively will play a woman who becomes an assassin to seek vengeance for the death of her family. In case that’s not badassery enough to convince you, consider that she got hurt on set while doing her own stunts.
