Huntress/Helena Bertinelli Part 2

3. Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a 30-year old actress who most fans may remember for her role Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. However, her performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane was fantastic and the quintessential tale of a person’s ability to escape captivity. While the role doesn’t exactly scream ass-kicking heroine, but there was something powerful and inspirational to draw from her performance. At every turn, her character was able to think on her feet and not fall victim to stupid clichés that otherwise plague films of similar nature.

Winstead appeared confident and strong as she tapped into her inner MacGyver as she looked to escape her tormentor. The DCEU would be wise to cast Winstead who Fox believes she has the chops to be a kick-ass hero, after all, she reportedly made their shortlist to play Domino in Deadpool 2. Of course, she didn’t get it, but Winstead would be a great addition to the role Helena Bertinelli.

2. Kaya Scodelario

Kaya Scodelario is a fresh-faced young actress (26) who would be great in a role like the Huntress. Scodelario has the look that ideally fits the darkness behind Helena Bertinelli’s eyes. In fact, playing someone tortured isn’t something Scodelario is infamous with — her character Effy was a troubled teen in the UK teen drama Skins.

As Effy she’s very mysterious and at first nearly mute but she develops into more as the series continues as she becomes more of the series focus. Scodelario’s work is one to watch and arguably why she earned the role of Tresa in the Maze Runner series. However, her role as the stubborn willful Carina in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is where she shined, despite the movie not being what many expected. This could be the breakout role Scodelario needs and for the DCEU they get one of the great up and coming actresses.

1. Alexandria Daddario

Alexandria Daddario has one of those resumes that tells a history of an actress who can play any role, from comedy to action. It seems like Daddario has been around for a while but the former soap actress is still waiting for that breakout role.

While some fans may have her as their perfect DCEU Zatanna, Daddario can take on a more physically demanding role. If you’re a fan of hers it’s easy to see how a role like Helena would be perfect. With what she goes through and how it shapes her is reminiscent of Daddario’s work in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. She’s dark a little edgy and far from a damsel in distress — she’s the final girl.

Daddario has also had her hand in some action movies as well like both Percy Jackson films where she played the strong-willed Annabeth. In San Andreas, she co-stars with Dwayne Johnson, the first of an apparent trio of movies (Baywatch and San Andreas 2). She plays Blake, the daughter of Johnson and doesn’t get drowned in the aura that is The Rock. With the Rock already signed up for Black Adam, maybe Daddario can join him in the DCEU.
