Deadpool has a lengthy comic book history, so let’s look back at some of his greatest, terrible and hilarious moments from Marvel Comics.

It seems like Deadpool’s success happened overnight. One minute he’s just a random character no one cares about. Later, he turns into an internet meme. Before you know it, he has his own movie and is killing it in the box office and becoming a trendsetter for movies. There was a lot of growth that went into Deadpool.

He wasn’t always the great character we know and love. He had to go through a lot of transformations. This list is going to document some of Deadpool’s most influential moments as well as the people he’s shared them with. The first 25 are just great moments that fans of the character should know about. The last five are what think are his best moments.

30. New Mutants #98

If you’re going to have a list with the best moments from Deadpool in comics, you have to start where he made his debut. In The New Mutants #98, Deadpool made his first appearance accepting a contract to kill Cable. Wade came in and went up against X-Force, Cable, and almost won. If not for Domino (who was actually Copycat), Deadpool would have killed Cable and maybe the rest of X-Force. Cable bound, gagged, and literally mailed Deadpool back to his employer. Deadpool started off as a villain and slowly worked his way into becoming an anti-hero and the character we see today.

Wade Wilson wasn’t always the hallucinating goofy Merc with a Mouth we love. He was actually arrogant and didn’t care about killing innocent people. He spent a lot of time trying to kill Wolverine and various other X-Men just because of his jealousy and insecurities.

Wade was all about making money any way he could. In fact, one time he said he’d kill a baby if you paid him enough. New Mutants #98 was the perfect beginning for Deadpool. He started off fighting members of the X-Men family and one day ended up becoming one of them…kind of. Everything came full circle. The real turnaround came when he met a mutant named Theresa Cassidy.
