13. Deadpool loses his healing factor then gets it back

Ever since his time in Weapon X, Wade Wilson has been obsessed with death. Not just the cosmic being, but dying. His healing factor is so strong that it seems like he’ll never die. There’s even a reality where he’s over 800 years old. It was looking like no matter what he did, he was never going to die. That was until he came up with the brilliant plan to have his healing factor taken away from him.

Deadpool went to great lengths to have his powers removed. Thankfully, Wolverine survived and Deadpool came to his senses and got Bob out of there before X-Force could kill him. But what does Deadpool do after he loses his healing factor? The same thing he did before. He stayed on X-Force despite the dangerous jobs and accepted mercenary jobs. Eventually, Deadpool’s healing factor came back and he went through all of that (including losing a fight to Paste Pot Pete) for nothing.

The biggest takeaway from this is that Deadpool’s healing factor will always come back. Thanos wasn’t joking when he cursed Deadpool with life. I’d like to say that Deadpool became a better person and learned something from this experience, but he didn’t. Deadpool remained as reckless as ever. When Wolverine lost his healing factor, he embraced life. When Deadpool lost his, he used a gasoline hose and a lighter to shoot flames from his butt.
