30 greatest Deadpool moments in Marvel Comics

22. Deadpool saves the universe
Deadpool isn’t known for being a guy to save the day on a massive level. Recently, he helped save the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. with the Kobik Cosmic Cube and he’s also been vital when helping Cable on more than a few occasions.
During Joe Kelly’s run of Deadpool, he wrote a series that leads to Deadpool being trained to save the universe from a celestial being alien races thought was the Messiah. We find out that the being is just giving people eternal bliss and taking away free will. The being inhabited Captain America’s body and Deadpool defeated him as only he could. He kicked him in the crotch.
After Wade saved the day, he disappeared, taking away eternal bliss meant that war, pain, and hatred still plagued the universe. It’s hard to feel like you did the right thing when you’re directly responsible for continuing a lot of the negative things in the world. This was a job only Deadpool could accomplish. As he put it, “Destiny doesn’t care that I’ve made sacrifices to get here…that I’ve said my prayers and brushed after meals…destiny wants a garbage man, and I’m it. I’m always it. Bang bang. I’m Deadpool. You’re dead.”
Landau, Luckman, and Lake (The company that hired him to save the universe) were grooming Wade for a while to make this decision. They set things in motion to force him to grow up and make tough decisions. For example, Deadpool accepted a contract to blow up an unmanned facility. Deadpool was unaware that the destruction of the building could cause an explosion and give millions of people cancer. Rather than run away, Deadpool risked his life to save others. It a big-time first for him.
