Killing Karen Paige

Almost every superhero has dealt with the death of someone they loved. Cyclops witnessed Jean Grey die (more than once), Wolverine has had a laundry list of women he’s loved and lost, and Spider-Man has lost Gwen Stacy. In a lot of ways, these deaths have defined who they are. It’s either motivated them to become better fighters or it becomes a crutch. For Daredevil, Karen Page’s death has been one of his biggest failures. Something he still hasn’t gotten over.

Karen was killed taking a kill projectile from Bullseye that was meant for Daredevil. Murdock hasn’t gotten over it. He even told Ben Grimm’s ex-fiance that he understood why he wouldn’t go through with the wedding.

Despite Karen Page getting over her drug addiction and being diagnosed as HIV positive, Matt wasn’t prepared for her to die in such a violent way. The life he leads is a dangerous one, but this is one of the first times in his life as Daredevil hit him in his personal life. This may not be the first woman Bullseye has killed that Murdock loved, but Karen wasn’t a super-powered person who died in the line of duty. Matt’s romantic relationships will always be second-guessed because of how Karen Page died. I fully believe Bullseye will kill Karen Page in season 3 of Daredevil.
