Barbara Gordon and Birds of Prey

There is a Birds of Prey movie in development for the DCEU. There aren’t any details surrounding the script or plot, but Cathy Yan will direct.

However, we imagine that there will be some resemblance to the comics. Birds of Prey is thought to be the story that follows the original trio, Barbra Gordon, Huntress, and Black Canary. Following the events of The Killing Joke, Barbara Gordon adopted the codename Oracle. As Oracle, she hired other female heroes, Huntress and Black Canary to help fight crime.

The idea of having a hero confined but not limited to a wheelchair is unique. We’ll have to wait and see how the story will be told especially since they have Harley Quinn involved. Nevertheless, Birds of Prey is a direct tie to Batman with Barbra Gordon being his former sidekick.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn

The inclusion of Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey is a way to get her back on the big screen. We aren’t sure exactly what role Harley Quinn will play, but she’ll have plenty more movies according to sources. The DCEU plans to capitalize off of Harley’s popularity. Recently Harley teamed up with Nightwing and Batman. The animated movie Batman and Harley Quinn proved she has some good in her.

As a matter of fact, when it was first reported that Harley would get a spin-off, many people expected Gotham City Sirens. However, that film may have been canned. It was the natural assumption to make considering she’s a founding member.

There were also the rumors about a Joker and Harley movie, a love story. In fact, we believe the popularity of Harley Quinn could warrant multiple DCEU appearances. Whether it’s Birds of Prey as a villain, to an anti-hero in Gotham City Sirens. One thing’s for sure, we expect her to make one more run with Task Force in Suicide Squad 2, maybe as their leader.
