Ant-Man and the Wasp is quickly approaching and will undoubtedly be compared to the first Ant-Man. In the meantime we can take a look at the other MCU sequels and whether or not they met expectations set by the first in the franchise.
This movie season has already welcomed the release of Deadpool 2, Incredibles 2, and the second Jurassic World hit theaters this past weekend, so now it is time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get in on the summer of seconds. Black Panther was the first solo outing for the Wakandan king and Infinity War was the third Avengers feature, leaving the Ant-Man follow-up as the sole addition to the list of MCU sequels to have been released.
The first Ant-Man is one of the lesser MCU movies, but that is effectively by design considering the size of its hero. It is uniquely the one film in the Marvel brand that could be categorized as a comedy-heist. With the sequel, it looks like director Peyton Reed will go bigger, just like Scott Lang’s Giant-Man identity, but will bigger mean better?
While we anticipate the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, let’s look back at each of the MCU sequels and how they compare to their franchise’s original film.
