Following the release of the Spider-Geddon cover art, join us as we break down the ensemble with a who’s who look at the main characters.
In 2014, Dan Slott graced the comic book world with a Marvel Comics series called Spider-Verse. The story was about a group of totem eating beings called the Inheritors. They were jumping from different realities killing and then eating the spider-beings of that universe. One of them even visited the Spider-Man from the newspaper comic strip. In October, a new series revisiting the Spider-Verse will start. It’s called Spider-Geddon.
Dan Slott returns after his ten-year run of Amazing Spider-Man ended with Amazing Spider-Man #800. Spider-Geddon is being billed as, “Revenge of the Spider-Verse.”
"“Spider-Verse took the multitudes of Spider-Characters and put them all on the same stage and we’ve been playing with it ever since. SPIDER-GEDDON straps dynamite to that stage and blows it to smithereens,” Marvel Editor Nick Lowe said in a statement. “The most dangerous spider-villain ever, Morlun, and his family of INHERITORS were trapped in the perfect prison at the end of SPIDER-VERSE. But like in any superhero story, there’s always a way out and you won’t believe how these Spider-Eaters get out. But they’re out and they want revenge.”"
Spider-Geddon brings back familiar faces like Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2099, Scarlet Spider, and, of course, Peter Parker. There’s even a Spider-Man dressed in the costume from the video game coming out on Playstation 4. The cover for Spider-Geddon has also shown some characters that the common fan or even regular Marvel Comics fans may not know.

Spider-Punk (Earth 138)
Hobart Brown is from a reality where Norman Osborn is president. In typical Norman Osborn fashion, he’s running the country like a tyrant. Thankfully, this world has Hobart Brown a.k.a. Spider-Punk. When Norman Osborn and his V.E.N.O.M. police force attacked Spider-Punk and his Spider-Army, he hit them with, “15,000 volts of punk rock.” The symbiotes are susceptible to loud noise and vibrations. When Hobart hit his guitar, the vibrations from the speakers put down hard. Hobart finished by bashing President Osborn over the head with his guitar.
If Hobart Brown sounds familiar, it’s because that’s the name of the Prowler from Earth 616 (not to be confused with Miles Morales’ uncle) Hobart is a unique Spider-Man. He isn’t afraid of keeping his identity a secret. This may be the reason that the public trusts him more. There’s a quote he said that sums him up perfect,
"“We don’t have the power of the state. We don’t have the authority on our side, the cops, or the media. What we have are angry hearts. Clenched fists. Love and rage… and 15,000 watts of punkrock, from an army of amps set to 11.”"
