Lantern Corps in the Marvel Universe
By Mark Lynch
Blue: Hope
Oath: “In fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite. When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!”
In order to be given the power of a Blue Lantern you have to first accept what it means. You must accept the responsibility of giving yourself over to the universe. Your job is to bring hope into a place that is in dire need of it. One character in the Marvel universe would accept this privilege and do it with honor and pride.
Peter Parker
It would be a difficult challenge to find a person in the Marvel universe that has more hope for the world than Peter Parker. No matter how bad things get, Peter Parker has never given up hope. He’s fought mutants, gods, and never given up. Because with great power must also come great responsibility. With this great power, Peter would be honored to take this responsibility on his shoulders.
Peter Parker’s life has been tragic. So much so that he started calling it “The Parker Luck”. Despite his bad luck, Peter seems to keep on fighting. He always tries to see the best in people even when no one else will. Even though he hates Wolverine at times, he knows his heart is in the right place. His crowning achievement was becoming a teacher. Despite everything that was going on in his life, he always kept hope in the youth and tried to be an inspiration to them all.
