Todd Phillips is looking at award-winning talent for the Joker’s mother — why not do the same for Thomas Wayne. Here are five actors that Phillips should consider for the role.

Fans aren’t sure what to expect Todd Phillips untitled Joker origin story. Nevertheless, it doesn’t appear that Phillips is pulling punches with casting. Playing the role of Joker is one time Grammy winner and three-time Academy Award winner, Joaquin Phoenix. Additionally, he eyed Oscar winner, Frances McDormand to play Joker’s mother. Unfortunately, according to Umberto Underground’s Twitter account, she turned it down.

In addition to Joker and his mother, the father of Bruce Wayne will also be part of the cast. With Phillips aiming for a star-studded cast why should he hold back for Thomas Wayne? Here are five actors who’ll make a great Thomas Wayne for Todd Phillips Joker film

5. James Franco

James Franco does it all; writing, directing, producing and of course acting. Franco’s popularity hinges on his range from comedy to drama. He’d be an excellent candidate in Todd Phillips’ Joker movie as Thomas Wayne. His range is special so playing the billionaire and king of Gotham would be easy. As evident by his amazing performance as Harry Osborn/Goblin in the original Spider-Man trilogy.

Furthermore, the untitled Joker film will likely feature its dark twisted moments but and comedy. An element Franco can provide if necessary for Thomas Wayne’s personality. There are a number of examples from Pineapple Express to This is the End. We’ll see Franco rocking a Thomas Wayne-like mustache in his upcoming action drama, Blood Heist. There’s no doubt that Franco fans can’t wait to see him in a comic book movie again, Todd Phillips can make that happen.
