1. Jay Garrick

Jay Garrick has been a staple of The Flash‘s comic book mythology for decades. The original Flash, Garrick suffered a laboratory accident, he became a speedster and used his powers for the greater good. The Crimson Comet became one of the most popular characters during the Golden Age of superheroes, and was involved in some iconic storylines, including the founding of the Justice Society of America.

He was incorporated into The CW’s series during its second season after Zoom had kidnapped him and began masquerading around Earth-2 as the hero. Portrayed by previous live-action Flash, John Wesley Shipp (who also plays Henry Allen on the show), the character became an integral part of Season 3, helping Team Flash take on Savitar. But he only appeared one episode during Season 4 (which was, by far, the season’s strongest episode), after which he alluded to retirement.

However, Garrick revealed that he was training a new female speedster to take his place. Though we initially thought it may have been Nora West-Allen, there has yet to be any confirmation of this. So, we need an appearance (or many!) from Jay to wrap up this mystery and reveal who he’s training.

Given Shipp’s legacy on both shows, and the fact that he gives us goosebumps every time he appears, his talents just weren’t utilized enough last season. He never fails to bring the character to life and the show really benefits from the whole veteran speedster vibe that emits whenever he’s on screen. And let’s be honest, more John Wesley Shipp is always a good thing.
