Should Matt Reeves’ The Batman focus on the Year One comic arc he has to include Selina Kyle and we have eight actresses ideally suited for the role
San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone. The DCEU focused on their three upcoming movies and didn’t give fans an update on one its more prominent heroes, Batman. Fans of Batman and the DCEU have patiently waited for news about Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Rumors suggest that Reeves’ movie would focus on the popularized Frank Miller story Batman Year One. Fans of the comics understand the important role a number of Batman characters play. From Sarah Essen to Arnold John Flass, to Holly Robinson, and Carmine Falcone. However, no one is more important than Selina Kyle who’s popularity far exceeds any of the aforementioned Batman characters.
In Batman Year One, Selina Kyle is a prostitute who is inspired by Batman. She suites up and becomes Catwoman, a burglar who’s actions are pinned on Batman. Despite being on the opposite ends of the law, she teams with the Dark Knight of Gotham to take down Falcone. While Year One focuses on the origins of Batman, it’ll be a disservice to fans to not include Selina Kyle. With that said, here are eight actresses who could play Selina Kyle in Matt Reeves The Batman.
8. Nina Dobrev
There’s no doubt that Nina Dobrev has potential to be a breakout star in Hollywood. The former Degrassi actress got her American big break in the CW hit series The Vampire Diaries. Dobrev played Elena Gilbert, the show’s main protagonist who went from damsel in distress to badass vampire. The growth of her character was fantastic to watch and Dobrev did an excellent job. Nevertheless, it wasn’t the character Elena that resembled Selina Kyle’s characteristics.
On TVD, Dobrev played a savage, sassy, fierce vampire, Katherine, Elena’s doppelgänger. Dobrev looked like a completely different actress when she played the bloodthirsty and fearless Katherine. Like Selina, Katherine did whatever it took to survive, though she had a skewed moral compass.
Dobrev, however, is more than just a TV star. She’s had roles in a few movies including Let’s Be Cops, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, The Final Girl, and most recently Flatliners. Dobrev is an up and coming actress who has the kick-ass skills and acting talent to play Selina Kyle in The Batman.
