Uncanny X-Men are coming back and they’re needed

The Return of Cyclops

There have been pictures of a figure holding Cyclops’ visor with the phrase that says, “Set It Right” on it. The rumor (reported by CBR.com) is that Cyclops could be making his return. This could be Cyclops coming back from the dead, or the younger Cyclops getting his age sped up to adulthood. Either way, he’s the heart of the X-Men. When he died, so did the franchise.

Call Cyclops boring or a goody two shoes. One thing you can’t say is that he doesn’t add to the X-Men. His role in Avenger VS X-Men was nothing like the Cyclops we knew. Even Magneto said that he was acting like him. The success of the Uncanny X-Men depends on Cyclops being their leader.

Of course Wolverine coming back will help their sales, but Cyclops always held the team together. Sometimes it was with a kick in the butt and sometimes with a hug and words of encouragement. He’s their most dedicated teammate and one of the best leaders in Marvel Comics.

Uncanny X-Men could be the final piece in the Marvel Fresh Start initiative. The Fantastic Four and Wolverine are back, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man are back on the Avengers, and Peter Parker is back with Mary Jane. Hopefully, this project will feel bring the nostalgia of the deep stories we’re used to reading on top of the amazing fight scenes and love interests between the teams.
