Which actors gave the best performances in Marvel’s 20th Century Fox movies?
Let’s call it like it is. The 20th Century Fox movie franchise has been a bit of a disaster and a lot of their movies have not been well received. On top of that the Gambit movie keeps having issues, New Mutants had their release date moved, and then there’s what they did to Deadpool in X-Men: Wolverine Origins. Thankfully, Logan and the two Deadpool movies have both been successful at the box office.
Another criticism has been the performances, which haven’t been that great. Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, and anyone who’s played Angel have all performed poorly. That said, there have been more than a few great performances. Looking back at the cast picked to play these characters, there were actually more good performances than bad. Here is the list of the ten best performances in a 20th Century Fox Marvel movie.
10. Ed Skrein as Ajax
In a movie dominated by jokes and shenanigans from Wade Wilson/Deadpool. A villain was needed to balance everything out. Someone that was the exact opposite of Deadpool. Ajax was that guy. He was evil, uncaring, and literally felt nothing physically or emotionally.
When Wade went to Weapon X looking to cure his cancer, he met Ajax and was almost immediately tortured. When the first batch of tortures didn’t work, Ajax left Wade in a chamber where he was deprived of air off and on for an entire weekend to help activate his mutant gene. Even after it activated, Ajax planned on leaving him in there just for kicks.
Ed Skrein played a great psycho to Deadpool’s carefree persona. Never once giving us a sincere smile or a hint of caring about anything. As amazing as Deadpool was, the movie as a whole wouldn’t have been as great if not for the villain. Thankfully, Skrein got the role and knocked it out of the park. Too bad he died in the end. It would have been great to see him again.
