If Disney truly cut ties with James Gunn, Warner Bros should tap him to direct these five DCEU films.

James Gunn is a talented director with versatility on his resume from horror to action movies. Gunn took a group of Marvel heroes virtually unknown to non-hardcore fans and made them a household name. Guardians of the Galaxy was an instant success both commercially and critically. However, Gunn was more than a director, when he was fired by Disney for offensive tweets from years ago his cast rallied behind him. It’s a testament to the type of leader he is and it’s why other studios, including Warner Bros, are looking to bring Gunn aboard.

It didn’t take long for big-time studios to throw their names in the hat for Gunn’s services. Heck, even Disney may backtrack their decision. Still, the prospect of Gunn being hired by Warner Bros is intriguing. With Walter Hamada taking over the DCEU we’d like to think Gunn is on his radar. So, we list the movies we’d like to see James Gunn direct if he does agree to terms with Warner Bros.

5. Man of Steel sequel

James Gunn has done an excellent job managing the uber-powerful characters that exist in Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s also done a fantastic job with making each hero feel unique and reminiscent of their comic book counterpart. Superman would give Gunn a chance to channel all his energy into one character. All the elements he brought together in Guardians of the Galaxy would work well in a Man of Steel sequel. If Gunn is shy to pull the trigger, Henry Cavil has an idea for the Man of Steel sequel.

Nevertheless, the MoS sequel fans hope to see may not happen for a while. This should give Gunn a chance to disappear for a while and let some the recent controversy blow over.

4. Lobo solo film

Walter Hamada could look to James Gunn to take on a project that was once said to be in development, Lobo. This could give the DCEU an opportunity to flex their R-rated muscles. Lobo is an intergalactic loud mouth bounty hunter who travels the universe kicking butt and taking names. This would give Gunn a low-key DC title, similarly to Guardians of the Galaxy.

With Dave Bautista looking to cut ties with Disney because of his loyalty to James Gunn, this could be blessing in disguise for the DCEU. As of now, there are no plans for a Lobo film but things could change should Warner Bros hire James Gunn.
