Five DCEU films we’d like to James Gunn direct

3. Supergirl solo movie

I recently suggested that the DCEU Supergirl film should make the Man of Steel Prequel it’s main source material. If it does happen, then James Gunn would make an excellent choice. Of course, having a woman director makes sense but Gunn has an excellent track record with his depiction of women.

Supergirl would be far from a space adventure but the setting and other world appearance could use Gunn’s vision. He’d be able to capitalize off of what Zack Synder set up in Man of Steel and tell the story featuring Krypton. Additionally, he’s shown the ability to truly make a female heroine stand out like he did with Zoe Saldana’s Gamora and Libby (Ellen Page) in Super. Telling a story of a teenage girl on another planet would be gold with Gunn behind the camera.

2. Green Lantern Corps

This wi undoubtedly be the most popular choice for James Gunn. The DCEU has teased the Green Lantern Corps film for some time. There were early reports that suggested the film would feature both John Stewart and Hal Jordan in a buddy cop style film. Geoff Johns gave fans an update at San Diego Comic-Con 2018.

"“I’m going to be hopefully delivering a script that Warner [Brothers] loves and DC likes, and they want to make it…that’s going to celebrate the mythology and reinvent it in a different way, but also if you’ve read my Green Lantern run, it’s very much in line with some stuff we did in there.”"

Green Lantern Rebirth was a hit and reintroduced Hal Jordan to DC Comics. The reimagining that took place with Rebirth is to be expected from the Green Lantern movie. With the possibility of the film being a space adventure — there’s arguably no better DC film more suited for James Gunn. Or is there?
