How Black Lightning can continue to be a success.

Black Lightning season 2 will arrive on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Season 1 came in strong and kept its pace from start to finish. Season 2 is crucial to the success of the show. The sophomore seasons can make or break a series. Some shows tend to shy away from what made them a good while some keep all of the elements that made it great. Black Lightning has some things they need to continue and have a couple of additions as well.

Strong villains

One of the best things about Black Lightning were the villains. Each villain had a specific thing that made them strong and interesting. Lady Eve was devious and smart. It also helped that Jill Scott did and great job portraying her character. Hopefully she makes a return whether she’s resurrected or in flashbacks.

More from Opinion

Tobias was one of the smartest people on the show. He played the game like chess while other people were playing checkers. Tobias also has a crew that is both deadly and loyal. And Martin Proctor was just deplorable.

In order to keep this show strong, Tobias and every villain we see has to present a real threat. Black Lightning is a powerful and smart hero. We have to believe that there is a chance he can lose. If he’s beating up useless goons all season then this is going to be the second and final season. Tobias already set himself up to run the town. Now he has to step up and be the leader and badass we know he can be.

Also, even though Tobias is the leader he has to remain hands on. He can’t sit behind the desk while everyone else does the dirty work. Especially since he’s a great fighter. There’s a chance he could be better than Wilson Fisk in Daredevil.
