Ranking the top selling Marvel Cinematic Universe movies from Phase 1 on Blu-ray and DVD.

Avengers: Infinity War is out on Blu-ray and DVD now. Meanwhile Black Panther is already making money. Let us look back at the Phase 1 releases from the MCU to see who sold the most Blu-rays and DVDs.

6. Thor

DVD Sales  – $40,372,389/2.4 million units
Blu-ray Sales – $42,361,341/1.7 million units
Total Sales – $82,733,730/4.1 million units

Believe it or not, Thor is the lowest selling MCU title of Phase 1. This may come as a surprise, as it has a decent box office pull. Matter of fact, it did better than The Incredible HulkThor did well enough to even warrant a sequel later on. It debuted in September of 2011, with over 1 million units sold, bringing in over $24 million in revenue. Granted, this is relatively small. Afterward in the coming weeks, it began to drop. Only holding onto the number one spot for both charts for one week.

Perhaps we can chalk it up to bad timing. Movies like Transformers: Dark of The Moon and The Star Wars Complete Saga of all six episodes are hitting shelves. This is also around the time that DVD are starting to become yesterday’s media. Blu-ray is slowly building up. This shows in the fact the movie came up as the #17 best selling Blu-ray for 2011, but only the #45 best selling DVD for the year. All in the past though, as each Thor installment afterward achieved more.
