In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power, Green Lantern’s Light.

The question is who does the DCEU have in mind to wield the Green Lantern’s Light? There are plenty of rumors circling the web that may hold a clue to whom Walter Hamada has in mind. The Green Lantern Corps film is a ways away from hitting theaters with its 2020 expected release date. However, casting news slowly made its way to the surface.

In fact, last week, Revenge of the Fans editor, Mario Robles claimed via Twitter, that producer Charles Roven wanted Mark Wahlberg in the DCEU’s Green Lantern Corps film. Wahlberg’s name surfaced when David Goyer’s script was relevant.

However, its undergoing rewrites by Geoff Johns and now a new name has surfaced. According to Crazy Days Of Night, a blind item website, Tom Cruise could sign on for the role of Hal Jordan under one condition, Hal Jordan doesn’t die.

Of course, it’s all hearsay and whether or Cruise is actually being considered for the role remains a mystery. Nevertheless, there is a telltale sign from the DCEU about the type of actor they want for Green Lantern. Both Wahlberg (47) and Cruise (56) are Hollywood veterans with established resumes and blockbuster appeal. Thus, it’s apparent that the DCEU has their sights set on a “name,” someone who can help put butts in seats. They want someone with a little cachet for their Hal Jordan and if it’s not Tom Cruise or Mark Wahlberg we have some worthy candidates.
