DCEU: Ranking the rumored movies in development

7. Nightwing

Finally we come to a hero that can help save the DCEU. Nightwing, AKA Dick Grayson, has become one of the most popular characters in the history of DC Comics. Whether it is from his time as Robin, striking out on his own as Nightwing, or leading the Teen Titans, the character has provided countless adventures and story lines for fans to enjoy.

Rumors of a Nightwing solo movie began in March of 2018 and director Chris McKay was signed on to the project. Since then, it’s been a slew of rumors coming out regarding the status of the script, potential casting, and word that Warner Bros. had tabled the project in favor of more “big name” characters.

A Nightwing movie would be more natural way to contrast the dark, violent version of Batman that Zack Snyder created in Batman v. Superman without going too far in the other direction like Joss Whedon did in Justice League. Yes, Grayson has some of the same emotional baggage as Bruce Wayne but he is traditionally portrayed with more personality. The film would likely introduce the city of Bludhaven, further building out the DCEU world. McKay’s work on The Lego Batman Movie showed he knew his stuff when it came to Batman lore. No doubt he could bring the same approach to the first big screen version of Nightwing.
