With Riverdale’s highly anticipated third season just around the corner, here’s a look back at the best moments for nine ships in season two.

For many Riverdale fans, shipping is an integral part of watching the show. In fact, a lot of people only tune in to see their favorite couple on screen taking down the latest killer together, walking the halls of Riverdale High together or you know, doing other stuff together.

Whatever reasons you watch your ships for, here’s a compilation of some of the best ship moments from season two, prefaced with these disclaimers.

First, I’m fully aware that this article does not include every Riverdale ship in existence. For the sake of brevity, it only focuses on 1) canonical couples who will be together in season three as confirmed by the latest teaser trailer and 2) the non-canonical, or at least not currently together, ships among the Core Four. This article is not meant to be a slight against other ships or invalidate them in any way.

Second, this article is not meant to be a ranking of ships. They are simply listed in alphabetical order.

Barchie

Ah, the boy next door and the girl next door. Will they be endgame? Kevin (Casey Cott) predicted exactly that in the Riverdale pilot, and many viewers have held on to that hope ever since. Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Archie’s (KJ Apa) relationship has always been rooted in a strong friendship, but season two certainly suggested that they have feelings for one another.

While the love triangle among Betty, Archie and Veronica was, perhaps, more played up in season one, Betty and Archie shared their first kiss in season two. Of course, the kiss was partially fueled by a spur of the moment “what if the Black Hood kills us?” kind of vibe. However, the way they leaned into it also made the kiss undeniably heartfelt. Evidently, the spark between Archie and Betty is still there, at least to an extent, whether they want it to be or not.
