4. Channing Tatum

For years it seemed destined that Channing Tatum would star in a comic book movie. After all, he’s been working on the Gambit movie for some years. While he waits to get Gambit off the ground, Warner Bros should give him a call. Tatum is 38 with a huge following and a really good resume.

Tatum showed off his comedic chops in 21 and 22 Jump Street alongside Jonah Hill. He was a brash, cocky lovable jock who you couldn’t help but root for. In Foxcatcher he was able to turn off the comedic switch in favor of gut-wrenching drama. Tatum killed it as Olympian wrestler Mark Schultz. Over the years Tatum has shown how versatile an actor he is. There’s nothing that he can’t do.

Tatum could provide the ultimate balance for Superman/Clark Kent. He’ll be perfect for a more serious Clark like Zack Snyder started with. However, there can be a lighter touch added to his persona. No, he doesn’t have to stumble, bumble, and fall his way into obscurity like Christopher Reeves Clark, but Tatum can add a unique quality to the persona of Clark Kent.  Playing Superman would come second nature to Tatum who’s played in heroic roles before. If his passion for Gambit is any indication of the type of dedication he’ll bring — there’s no doubt he’d nail the role.
