Suicide Squad 2 script is finished: Five things we expect to see

Suicide Squad 2 writer confirms completed script with the ups and downs of the first film — we explore how the sequel can make things right.

With the negative and convoluted press surrounding the current state of the DCEU, it’s nice to have something positive to talk about. The original Suicide Squad movie was a box office success for Warner Bros. So, it’s no surprise that WB and Walter Hamada are looking to capitalize on the first film’s success with Suicide Squad 2Suicide Squad 2 co-writer Todd Stashwick recently sat down with Discussing Film and gave an update on Task Force X: 

"“We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it… It’s a sequel to the first film. Again, I can’t say anything else. Our intention is to tell an exciting story, deepening these characters.”"

Fans of continuity can rest easy knowing that Suicide Squad 2 isn’t being rebooted, despite the iffy reception of the first film. David Ayer wrote and directed the original Suicide Squad. The result was a mixed bag, with critics panning the film and fans generally on the fence. Still, Suicide Squad was a box office success. 

However, it was not the game-changing film DCEU fans had hoped for. Whether or not you liked the film, it’s safe to say it didn’t live up to expectations, which means we expect the follow-up to make up for the mistakes of its predecessor.
