Warner Bros is closing in on their cast for Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey, so let’s break down the latest casting news and rumors to hit the web.

We’re about to get a deeper look inside the city of Gotham beyond Batman in director Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey. When a young assassin needs protection from an insanely dangerous criminal, a group of heroic women comes together to form, the Birds of Prey.

The cast of characters set to join Harley Quinn is Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, who’ll protect Cassandra Cain. It appears that DCEU president, Walter Hamada, and Yan are closing in some actresses.

According to The Wrap, there are a number of well-known actresses being considered for roles. Some of the names being tossed around are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smolett-Bell, Sofia Boutella, Margaret Qualley, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw to name a few.

For a while, Lady Gaga name circled the film with rumors suggesting she had her say in which role she’d play. Considering her critically acclaimed performance in A Star is Born, we expect her name to continue to float around Birds of Prey. Still, the Lady Gaga rumors have since died down with the latest reports. It seems Warner Bros has their sights set on other actresses.
