Joker and Harley Quinn script completed — here’s what we expect

Joker and Harley Quinn’s movie is Bad Santa meets This is Us  and explores what happens when two totally messed up people get together, but what else do we expect from the upcoming film?

Warner Bros. promised to exploit Joker and Harley Quinn, and that’s exactly what’s happening. Joker’s expected go get a solo DCEU film. Likewise, fans anticipate Harley to appear in multiple DCEU films. In fact, last week we learned Joker and Harley Quinn writers, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa competed a draft of the film’s script. However, neither Ficarra nor Requa are sure if or when the movie will get made, but they did give us a taste of what to expect, during an interview with Metro. Specifically, the duo said the theme of Joker and Harley Quinn reminds them of Bad Santa and the critically acclaimed series This is Us. 

Fans of Bad Santa know that we’re in for a dark yet funny ride with Joker and Harley. Moreover, it appears their film will do what Suicide Squad was unable to do — tell a full story of Joker and Harley’s relationship. Using This is Us as a comparison, fans can expect flashbacks. This is Us uses flashbacks to tell the stories of their characters, but continue with a present day timeline. Additionally, Ficarra and Requa plan to feature the flawed romance between Joker and Harley. 

There’s no reason Joker and Harley Quinn should romanticize the relationship of Gotham’s most dangerous couple. The two writers described the script as a “relationship movie.” There are plenty of people who enjoy a romance movie, but these two aren’t the most ideal couple. As a matter of fact, their relationship is toxic, even if it is somewhat romantic.
