What are the top 20 superhero performances in a movie?

Comic book films have been dominating the movies for over a decade. The original Spider-Man, X-Men, and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogies got the ball rolling, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Even when reports come out about the fatigue of going to see comic book movies, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War come out, gross over a billion dollars and ends those thoughts.

Good or bad, each movie usually has performances that stand out. Even Suicide Squad had a few moments that were unforgettable. That said, not every performance is great. Tobey Maguire was an amazing Peter Parker and a terrible Spider-Man. Christian Bale benefited from his amazing performances as Bruce Wayne and his villains, but the Batman performances were lacking to say the least. Here are the top twenty superhero performances in a comic book movie.

20. Danai Gurira as Okoye

She may have only been in a movie and a half, but Danai Gurira stole the show whenever she was on screen. Okoye was easily the strongest performer in Black Panther. She didn’t have the powers, but she maintained a presence that was captivating on the screen. Black Panther may have been the king, but it was Okoye who held the country together with her loyalty and will. Even in Avengers: Infinity War, Okoye managed to be a focal point even when she was standing alongside  the heavyweight Avengers cast. When the book is written, Danai Gurira will go down as one of the top ten best of all time.

19. Mickey Rourke as Marv

Mickey Rourke took a brutal character and made him come to life on the big screen. Rourke made him look as brutal as you’d want from a dark movie. What puts him on this list is the internal monologue during his quest for revenge, especially the part where he kills the priest. He lets the priest give his speech and goes,

"“You can scream now if you want.”"

It was the perfect ending to his long journey. Even though Sin City: A Dame to Kill For wasn’t that good, Rourke was still amazing. It may not take a lot to stand out in a bad movie, but he was still amazing.
