Marvel’s Spider-Man delighted fans all around the world with its top-notch mechanics and amazing use of bad guys. So while the next entry comes out, let’s take a look at the top 10 villains we want to see in the sequel.

A hero is only as good as its villains, and Insomniac certainly knew that when developing Marvel’s Spider-Man. Because of it, they put as much effort as possible when creating compelling and human stories for the bad guys we all know and hate to love. So with endless possibilities for the next game, it’s time to take a look at what might lie ahead for the Wall-Crawler.

In order to do this list, I ranked each villain considering the plot and gameplay mechanics they could bring up to the table. So without further ado, here are the top 10 bad guys we want to see in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (but be warned, there will be spoilers for the first game ahead).

10. Mysterio

There’s one mission in the first game titled “Streets of poison”. In it, Spider-Man gets infected with an unknown substance after Scorpion stings him with his tail. As a result, the web-slinger starts hallucinating really bad. And what happens next is one of the most unique and original missions of the game. The player has to swing across a devastated city filled with poison and giant scorpion tails. But if that wasn’t bad enough, then Spidey needs to find his way across a deserted and very twisted world. In it, he has to face his biggest fear yet: not being able to save his friend and mentor Otto Octavius.

While it’s undeniably one great experience, many complained it felt a bit off for a villain as Scorpion. So could Marvel could set this right for the sequel? Definitely, but they would need just the right guy for that.

Enter Mysterio, the man who’s better known for pulling all kinds of tricks and magic-like effects. Even if he’s not the first person you’d pick for a hand-to-hand combat with Spider-Man, he’s definitely the one you’d call for messing with his brain. Mysterio can create all sorts of visual-trickery which would result in original and mind-bending levels. That way the developers would have a little more freedom when crafting the next game. And, boy, it would make things much more interesting for Spider-Man and the player.
