9. The Spot

In the comics, Dr. Jonathan Ohnn (A.K.A The Spot) is one of many people working under the Kingpin’s reign. One day, after trying to replicate Cloak’s powers of teleportation, he finds himself transported into another dimension filled with many portals. And once he came back, let’s just say he wasn’t the same.

The Spot was born, and with him came many problems for Spider-Man. The supervillain acted as a security guard of sorts for Kingpin after his transformation. So could Wilson Fisk hire Dr. Jonathan Ohnn in the game to get him out of prison? Maybe after experimenting with teleportation, the doctor takes on his evil persona. That way, he could help Kingpin escape and also make for a good fight against the spider. Because, let’s be honest, a boss fight against a villain that can create portals at will would be pretty awesome.

The battle could take place all around New York City with The Spot transporting both Spidey and him to other places where he can use the environment to his advantage. It can be a tricky but fun boss-fight for the player, and a good plot device for the developers to get Kingpin out of jail. Everyone wins!

8. Spencer Smythe

His name may not be recognized that much, but his creations certainly do. Spencer Smythe is the man responsible for building the Spider-Slayers. Relentless robots whose only mission is to end with Spider-Man’s life. The cool thing about his character is that he starts to believe that Spidey is a menace after reading J. J. Jameson’s articles about the supposed hero. After that, Jameson funds the research that leads Spencer to create the killing robots.

As fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man know, J. J. Jameson appears quite a lot in the game. Not physically, but rather in the form of his podcast called Just The Facts. Players hear him complain a lot about the superhero while swinging through New York’s skyline. So what if his podcast still continued in the game’s sequel? And, from time to time, you hear a caller agree with Jameson’s opinion about the Wall-Crawler. All leading up until the point where that caller is revealed to be Spencer Smythe. The next thing you know is that Spider-Man is fighting killer robots in the streets of his city. A bit weird? Maybe. Fun? Absolutely.
