Who else has been Venom in Marvel Comics?

Venom will be hitting theaters on October 4th. So far, people have mixed reviews on the movie. Some critics are saying it’s better than it should be, while others say it’s lackluster. People have also been trashing the movie before it’s even come out. Even with the track record of comic book movies, it remains to be seen whether or not the movie is going to be a success.

Comic book fans know the history of Venom and likely know that it hasn’t always been in the life of Peter Parker or Eddie Brock. There have been other heroes in the Marvel Universe that have played host to the symbiote. Here are some of the Marvel Comics characters that have been Venom other than Peter Parker and Eddie Brock.

Wolverine

Some people are looking at this list going, “Is there anything that Wolverine hasn’t done?” Well, there isn’t much. Logan was Venom for a very brief time; about the span of a few comic issues and he wasn’t even in control of the being at the time. Before this happened, I wondered how this worked with his healing factor.

In the Daniel Way run, the suit overpowered Logan’s healing factor. In a couple of Avengers titles (New Avengers and Mighty Avengers), a symbiote bomb turned a ton of people in New York into symbiotes. In these issues, Logan’s healing factor was fighting the suit. Logan said it hurt like hell. When Logan was infected with the suit the first time, it was just an example of “sometimes it’s up to the writers to decide what does and doesn’t work.”

Logan would have made a great choice for the symbiote. If Logan’s healing factor couldn’t kick out the symbiote, it could have fed off of him forever. That added to his claws and enhanced senses, and it may have been unstoppable.
