What are the 10 best superhero movies of all time?

There has been a lot of debate on what the best superhero movies of all time are. Some people go with the classic movies like Christopher Reeve’s Superman or Tim Burton’s two Batman movies. Other may go with darker films like V for Vendetta or Sin City. The writers at Bam Smack Pow are no different.

Recently, the editors at Bam Smack Pow asked the writers what their top ten superhero movies were. We all gave our list and the results were tallied. Here are the top ten superhero movies voted by the staff.

10. Batman Begins

Batman Begins ushered in an era where superhero movies and shows could be closer to reality. You can see elements of this in the Marvel Netflix shows. After Batman Forever and Batman and Robin went too heavy on the bright colors and bad puns, audiences needed a change from the Batman franchise. Enter Christopher Nolan and his re-imagining of the Batman Universe by giving it a darker and more realistic feel.

Christian Bale portrayed Bruce Wayne like we’ve never seen him before. First, we get to see him train to be a warrior (unlike Marvel did in The Wolverine while Logan was in Japan). Second, we got to see Bruce deal with the death of his parents other than just being Batman. This is a part of the story we’ve yet to see in the movies. Michael Caine was the perfect Alfred Pennyworth adding wisdom and love, but also a lot of sarcasm.

My favorite part of this movie was that Nolan didn’t start the franchise with Joker. It gave a lot of fans something to look forward to. Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow knocked it out the park. He was intelligent and frightening as a villain. He was the perfect first test for Batman. It gave Batman something to overcome that wasn’t physical.
