In danger

Reggie

Out of all the teens, Reggie (Charles Melton) seems the most likely candidate to die in season three. He’s somewhat sympathetic, enough to make his death affecting, but he’s not one of the show’s most popular characters.

Last season, Riverdale‘s writers and producers picked Midge (Emilija Baranac) to be one of the Black Hood’s victims seemingly for a similar reason. They didn’t want the Black Hood to only be targeting adults, but they didn’t want him to kill a fan favorite either. The most probable “Midge” of season three is Reggie.

Hiram

Whether Hiram dies is really a question of whether Riverdale wants to introduce a new big bad in his place. Unless the Riverdale writers and producers want to go the One Tree Hill Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) route with Hiram, it might be time to change things up.

While Riverdale has had notable villains like Clifford Blossom (Barclay Hope) and the Black Hood, Hiram has been a strong and unpredictable antagonist in both seasons, setting catastrophic events in motion with great success.

In season three, Hiram will have more power than ever as the new kingpin of the Southside but that actually could make his death more likely. Hiram has been a good antagonist so far, because he’s been playing the long game. Now that he’s gotten everything he wanted, should he be taken down once and for all?

Hermione

As Riverdale‘s new mayor, the person in the best position to combat Hiram this season is Hermione (Marisol Nichols), which means that she’s also in a considerable amount of danger. Obviously, Hiram would be reaching a whole new level of depravity if he were to put a hit out on his wife. But would I put it past him? No.

He’s demonstrated time and time again that he only looks out for himself and will tear down anyone who stands in his way, including his own family. In fact, Hiram’s bigger concern would probably be that the death of a mayor would come under a lot more scrutiny than the death of a civilian. He would need to operate very carefully.

Going off of that, though, Mayor Lodge could also be a target for more than just Hiram. Public figures are inherently subject to danger.

To clarify, I’m hoping Hermione doesn’t die. She has the power to take Riverdale in a better direction, and I have faith that she will try her best to do so. She and Veronica may also be able to finally repair their relationship this season. I would hate to see that opportunity taken away from them or cut short.
