Five comic book video games that represent the characters

What five video games are a great representation of the comic book characters they’re based on?

Video games and comic books have had a long history together that dates back to the original Nintendo and Sega Genesis days. The X-Men and Batman are some of the first comic book franchises to grace a video game console. It’s now 2018, and video games have come a long way since then.

There was a time where comic book video games weren’t any good. They were very generic and didn’t represent the characters well. Even their powers were very basic. As time went on, they’ve become great representations of the comic books that inspired them. Most recently the Plasystation exclusive Spider-Man debuted, and gave fans of the character an appropriately amazing experience. Things like his Spider-Sense, fighting style, webs, and trademark smart-aleck behavior were all on display. The story even played out like it would in the comic. This may be the most recent game to show a good depiction of a comic book character, but it isn’t the first to do that.

Injustice series

Comic books have been exploring alternate dimensions for years. It gives the writers a chance to explore different characters if they chose different paths than their original counterparts. In this universe, Joker was responsible for destroying Metropolis and tricked Superman into killing Lois and their unborn child. This made Superman go over the deep end kill Joker, and decide to rule the world through fear.

The Injustice series was created by NetherRealm Studios, who have produced the last few Mortal Kombat games. They took some of the more popular characters from the DC Universe like Batman, Superman and The Flash, added lesser known characters like Killer Frost, Solomon Grundy, and Damian Wayne and made them characters in the game. What makes this game so true to the characters is the attention given to the characters’ power-sets and their responses to their opponents.

Characters like Batman and Black Canary have more creative melee combos, while someone like Superman, who doesn’t have a plethora of combos, gets his creativity from his special moves. Someone like Raphael won’t have an opponent conversation with Black Canary, but he’d have a few with Leonardo. Details like this made the series popular and will keep the franchise going for a while. They do a great job making sure each character has moves that they would actually use in the comic books.
