From Guardians of the Galaxy to Suicide Squad, James Gunn may not come alone. Actor Dave Bautista wants to reunite with his former director by joining James Gunn’s Suicide Squad but which DC character could he play?
There’s truly never a dull moment with Warner Bros. DC Extended Universe. On this day the announcement that WB dipped into the MCU pool for James Gunn nearly broke the internet. DCEU president Walter Hamada has things headed in the right direction. The hiring James Gunn was writing on the wall for the DCEU.
The media storm soon followed with fans in support and against Warner Bros. hiring of Gunn. As a matter of fact, one of the driving forces behind the whirlwind of positivity was Dave Bautista. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor, took to Twitter to make it known that he’d follow James Gunn to the Suicide Squad he just wanted to know where to sign up.
Bautista was an advocate for Gunn after Disney canned the director. He was vocal about his distaste for Disney’s firing of Gunn. Now that Gunn has joined the DCEU, Bautista wants in.
Bautista is a former WWE wrestler turned actor who made a name for himself under James Gunn. In arguably his largest role to date, he plays Drax the Destroyer for Disney/Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy. His role is often in the form of comic relief despite his monstrous appearance.
However, Bautista isn’t limited to his role in GOTG. Since joining the MCU in 2014 he’s starred in multiple such as Spectre, Heist, Bushwick, and the critically acclaimed Blade Runner 2049. Bautista is a bonafide action star and would be a great addition to the DCEU, but as who?
5. Wildcat
Ted Grant is a former boxer who became the hero Wildcat, inspired by the acts of Green Lantern. Created in 1942, Wildcat became the man who trained a number of heroes like Batman and Black Canary. Imagine Dave Bautista suiting up in a cameo role for Birds of Prey. Oh yeah, it could happen especially if Drax ends up like his comic book counterpart after facing Thanos. Like In Suicide Squad Vol. 2 Wildcat can become a member of the Suicide Squad and since James Gunn is writing — the title is fitting.
