Mary Walker, upon discovering an unknown, third personality, is on a journey of self-discovery, but what are her prospects following Iron Fist Season 2?

During the sophomore season of Iron Fist, Alice Eve’s Mary Walker (Typhoid Mary from the comics), arguably a secondary antagonist in the series who caused problems for Danny Rand (Finn Jones), Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) and the Meachum’s. She was of course one of the highlights of best parts of Iron Fist Season 2second to Davos (Sacha Dhawan).

Mary was a special ops soldier diagnosed with (DID) dissociative identity disorder. Soldiers in Sokovia while on tour with the United States Army ambushed her. It is unknown when this condition first manifested, but what is known is that she is the sole survivor of her squad and since then her psyche had divided between two personas; the artistic, friendly and naïve Mary and the cold-hearted, efficient and malignant Walker. Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup) had hired Walker to take down Danny and bring him to Davos.

At some point, Mary took over after her trigger i.e. rain and bright lights rendered Walker susceptible to being laid to rest. After Danny, Colleen and Misty Knight (Simone Missick) foiled Walker’s attempts to eliminate Davos once and for all, she returned from Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey) and discovered a third personality, she and Mary are unaware of who can be potentially more dangerous than the former two personalities.

Walker had warned Joy that they have unfinished business as she wanted protection from Davos. Though Walker decided to have the protection money with Joy, since she knows Walker’s secrets, she could either be an influential ally or a possible threat, Walker left Joy to her own devices – including her recovery – as Joy wondered if she even has a say in the matter. That was the very last time we saw Walker.

While Mary is a more grounded and militant version as compared to her comic book equivalent, but that is not to say there are no signs, signs that may lead her to share more similarities to the comics. Not only will this be about whether she can redeem herself, but what most likely her future is and of the paths, she could take.
