Review: Venom’s original soundtrack is better than the film
Venom’s soundtrack was composed by Ludwig Göransson and when you listen to it on its own, it feels like it’s better than the actual movie.
By now, it’s no secret that I wasn’t the biggest fan of Venom, but I am willing to give credit where credit is due. Ludwig Göransson did an excellent job with composing the score for the movie. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise considering he also worked on Black Panther this year.
Göransson has a knack for knowing when to use lower volumes and when to make things louder and almost overpowering. In the first track, “Space Exploration,” he does just that. The composition runs about four and a half minutes long and it has great dynamics to it.
As someone who doesn’t listen to soundtracks or instrumental music often, I found this to be a pleasant one to dive into. It makes for great music while you’re working on something that you need to focus on, but you still want some background noise on as you do so. And I don’t say that to diminish the quality of it. I think it’s great when soundtracks aren’t too distracting, so it’s certainly a compliment.

For this soundtrack to be the most effective when listening to it outside of the context of the movie, it’s best to do so with headphones on so you get all of those nuances as you listen. “Pedal To the Metal” was perfect for the chase scene that it accompanies and it has those kinds of nuances to listen for.
I understand that like myself, not everyone is going to enjoy soundtracks. However, this one is worth listening to and you can check it out on Amazon if you’re interested in actually owning a copy of it. It’s even available on vinyl.
