What we need to see from Daredevil in season 3.
Daredevil has been the best show Marvel Netflix has put out. The show manages to be the perfect show all while maintaining the integrity of the characters from the comic book. It also helps that the acting has been superb from the beginning. Fans were surprised when the trailer for season 3 debuted and the release date was weeks away, set for Oct. 19. Especially since this year already has had three season 2 shows premier (of Jessica Jones in March, Luke Cage in June, and Iron Fist in September).
Season 3 already looks like things are going to be more dramatic than what has already been an intense series. Wilson Fisk is getting out of jail and threatening to tell the world who Matt Murdock is Daredevil, Bullseye is going to be the villain, and Matt has decided that he’s been too soft on the criminals. Those are great storylines, but what else do we need to keep the momentum going with this new season of Daredevil.
The great and terrible Wilson Fisk
Wilson Fisk has been the best villain in any Marvel Comics production. That includes Killmonger and Thanos. He’s easily been the most ruthless and unforgiving of all the villains and even continued to be a threat while in prison.
Fisk is directly responsible for the success of the first season of Daredevil. As good as the performances from the actors playing Foggy, Matt, and Karen were, the season needed a villain to match the dark tone of the series. Even with Frank Castle (Punisher) in season 2, Fisk was still an important part without having a lot of screen time.
Fisk must continue to be an aggressive and genius criminal. When he gets out of prison he has to finesse the media and make himself look like the victim. He will most likely play the remorseful criminal seeking forgiveness for his crimes. In the comics, Fisk has always found a way to make himself come out smelling like roses even during his worst moments. Vincent D’Onofrio has been perfect as Fisk so far and we should expect nothing less from him in this season.
