Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #311 brings us a tie-in to Spider-Geddon and a new creative team.
There are spoilers ahead for Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #311.
While Chip Zdarsky is no longer writing Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, the comic lives on and the first issue after his run is a tie-in with Spider-Geddon. The Inheritors arrived in Spider-Geddon #1 and Morlun has some things to work out with Spider-Man in this issue.
We get a good look at how personal this is for Morlun. He’s vindictive and that’s not great for Spider-Man. Sean Ryan does a nice job writing both characters. Morlun has a much more serious tone while Spidey has quips galore despite how worn out he is.
While this doesn’t have any direct effect on Spider-Geddon that we can see yet, it sets up some context for the relationship between these two characters, which is nice for readers who may be new to Spider-Man. Not everyone is going to know the history between Spidey and every villain he’s come across over his lengthy history.
On the art side of things, Juan Frigeri and Jason Keith make this book look good. Spidey in his torn up suit instantly gives you the feeling that he’s had a rough day. Overall, this book doesn’t do anything extraordinary with the art, but it does look good.

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #311 is a good first outing for this creative team as they take over right as a big event is starting. We still have a few more tie-in issues, so it’ll be interesting to see how they use that to progress the story between Spidey and Morlun.
