Which Marvel Characters could make great horror movie antagonists?

When you think of the scariest comic book characters, people tend to go with The Joker and Scarecrow. There’s good reason for that. They have solidified themselves in the comic book world as scary both in what they will do to you physically and mentally. Marvel Comics has it’s share of scary characters. There are obviously characters like the Hulk and Thanos that are intimidating and strike dear into people due to their strength.

However, there are other characters that can strike fear into people in other ways. This list includes scary characters in the movie sense, and those that could continue a line of horror movies like New Mutants is hoping to achieve.

The Green Goblin

The Green Goblin is one of the scariest looking characters in Marvel Comics. The big yellow eyes, monster like mask, and loud, creepy laugh is enough to send chills go down anyone’s spine. There’s also his relentlessness when he’s going after someone. Just look at his relationship with Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Next to the Joker, no one has as unhealthy obsession for a nemesis. He’s gone as far as to hide Peter’s Aunt in a grave, threaten to reveal to the world that Peter is Spider-Man, and even makes sure that all of his “hero” teams has a Spider-Man.

One of the Goblin’s scariest moments came while he was in Thunderbolt Mountain. He eerily flew on his Goblin-Glider laughing as he was killing people in the dark with pumpkin bombs. worst of all, he was enjoying it. This could work well on screen. If Sony continues their trend of using Spider-Man characters without Spider-Man, a creepy Green Goblin movie could be a horror movie fans could really get behind. They could even go the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde route with Norman switching from scientist to monster.
