Satan
There have been a few versions of Satan throughout the Marvel Universe. For example, Wolverine once went to Hell (Wolverine goes to Hell by Jason Aaron) and actually fought and beat the Devil. This version looked like a giant monster. While it’s a scary visual, that isn’t the version that would work in a movie. Daniel Way wrote a run of Ghost Rider with Satan that could follow the theme of scary biblical movies all while adding a murderous and ruthless killer.
Him being a killer isn’t enough to make him intriguing. What made this Satan so good was that he was funny. He took pleasure in causing Johnny Blaze pain and tricking him. He was a lot like Freddy Krueger. It wasn’t enough to kill someone.
Satan had to embarrass them, as well, as he was the epitome of everything you’d expect from a story with Satan as the antagonist. He tricked Johnny Blaze into getting him out of Hell and then went on to try and kill 666 people to start the apocalypse. It’s a good story full of jokes, killing, and the perfect story to reintroduce Johnny Blaze. I wonder if Tim Curry would play Satan again.
