Review: Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man No. 312
Peter Parker has a plan, but he needs a little help along the way. Will he be able to fend off Morlun?
Sometimes tie-ins to big events can feel like a slog, even completely unnecessary at times. However, Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man doesn’t feel that way. Peter Parker isn’t being totally taken away from his current situation.
Peter needs help from J. Jonah Jameson, who now knows his true identity and that’s something we were seeing prior to the tie-in when Jameson was helping out prior to the event. He’s not willing to just stand by in this issue and we’re really seeing how he’s changed over time.
In this issue, Morlun is determined more than ever to defeat Peter. He’s slipped away too many times for Morlun to just be okay with it. This determination is what drives the tie-in issues for this series. While Spider-Geddon is focusing on a large group of heroes, this story is more personal between Peter and Morlun.
With that in mind, the story seems to go deeper than the other tie-ins and even the main event. Peter questions himself in this issue about whether or not he’ll be able to keep going. He’s been through a lot and it shows through the art by Juan Frigeri and colors by Jason Keith.
Sean Ryan took over as the writer on the series when the tie-in issue began, and he’s done a nice job with retaining the same sort of feeling as we see Peter thinking through things on the page. The narration is on point and makes us relate to him even more.

Overall, this is a solid issue. It gives Peter and Miles a quick chance to interact. Miles is a leader, he just needs to take the reins while Peter handles Morlun. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out in the next tie-in issue.
