29. The Dollmaker

Before there was ever thought to add “verse” to the end of the show’s title, early Arrow was a great place for more grounded villains to showcase their skills and the Dollmaker certainly made an impact. He was one of the more twisted villains who literally turned his victims into dolls by filling their bodies with a polymer and drowning them.

Barton Mathis escaped from prison thanks to the events of the Undertaking and decided to begin his killing spree once more. He took great pleasure in dressing his victims up as dolls before drowning them and would leave the lifeless dolls for the police to find. He seemed to have an obsession with their skin as he commented on this a number of times, often making note of how smooth it was.

The Dollmaker seems to have an obsession with Quentin Lance and decides to kill Laurel. He takes her prisoner and aims to kill her in front of Quentin. Luckily, the Arrow arrives just in time and manages to save both Lances. However, Barton manages to escape until he runs into the Canary who kills him because of what he did to Quentin and Laurel (the Canary, of course, being Sara Lance’s first alter-ego).
