22. Toyman

Winslow Schott Sr. created deadly toys to kill his victims. He was the father of Kara’s best friend, Winn, though this wasn’t something that he advertised. After his incarceration, Winn did everything he could to separate himself from his father, but after his escape from prison, thanks to a deadly yo-yo, it became impossible.

Toyman sent his son messages as he wanted him to continue his legacy, but Winn didn’t want anything to do with his father. Eventually, Winn did meet with his dad after encouragement from Kara and the FBI. Unfortunately, it was a set-up and Toyman was never really there.

When Kara next went after him, Toyman had set up a number of traps for her. He managed to trap her in a giant alphabet block filled with thermite and quicksand. However, thanks to some quick thinking, she was able to escape.

His presence instigated one of Winn’s best episodes in Supergirl and allowed him to transition from a character obsessed with Kara into a three-dimensional character. Winn admitted his feelings to Kara in this episode and was able to move on after she rejected him. When Winn found out that his father had been killed in prison during Season 3, he was also able to reconnect with his estranged mother.
